Detroit Ballroom a.k.a. Motown Style Ballroom has been danced for decades in Detroit. Its roots are based in the Cha-Cha dance combined with various elements of Ballroom Dance viewed at the Greystone Ballroom (1922-1972) in Detroit, MI. It is a social partner dance that when combined with sounds of Jazz, Rhythm and Blues or Neo Soul displays the current form of turns, glides, shuffles and more. Hustle(Line Dance): Soulful Line Dance (or Hustle as it's called in Detroit), is a communal dance that invites all ages and bodies to move in unison. Most of the dances fall into a 2-wall or 4-wall category, meaning the direction you face when starting the sequence each time. Much of what is composed in these dances is footwork, funk and flow; it's all about the timing and music. If you line dance already, then come on out and join us on the dance floor with your moves. If this is new for you, then come learn with us on the dance floor. The tempo will vary with the music; slow, medium, fast. The music will be in the genre of R & B, Jazz, etc. We'll dance three to six different hustles depending on the time. Please bring your Clacking Fans and wear shoes you can comfortably move and turn in, if needed. See you on the dance floor!
