DESCRIPTION

Organized around four mythical-animal archetypes, the Talawa Technique™ binds mind, body, and spirit. These archetypes - The Spider, The Snake, The Bird, and The Octopus- structure movement practices, performance modes, anatomical imagery, and cultural references. This session will revolve around The Snake, which is the symbol for life force, interconnection, and healing, emphasizes spinal articulation and fluidity, and underscores the vitality of wave-like motion. With the spine as the central axis, movement travels from pelvis to head, highlighting the snake's grounding in life and healing traditions. - Thomas Presto

MORE DETAILS

Ancient Power/Contemporary Use Talawa Technique™ structures elements of African & Caribbean practices uniquely designed to facilitate poly-centrism, multiple movement qualities, grounding and poly-rhythm. It deconstructs and reconstructs these practices in such a way as to reveal the quality of each unique element by themselves as well as the added accumulative potential achieved when these elements are intentionally recombined. NOTE: PLEASE BRING A YOGA/PILATES MAT.
