The BrainDance was created by Anne Green Gilbert from the Creative Dance Institute in Seattle. Anne's work continues to influence and shape dance education with its simplicity and joyful expression. April has been steeped in the practices and modality for 20 years and was fortunate enough to study with Anne weekly for many years. She is a HUGE fan of the form and loves to share it with dancers and movers of all ages and levels. This special class created for Bay Area Dance Week is geared to adults but if there are families that want to join, please bring your younger children. Dance for all! Dance for every age! Movement, breath and flow are three things that inspire April C. Taylor, a Bay Area transplant from Los Angeles who graduated from Mills College with a BA in Women's Studies and Dance. A performing and ritual artist, as well as a trained actor/singer/dancer, she has been performing her entire life and working in a variety of artistic and event arenas. Her passion for the expressive arts and education have led her to teach children and adults for the past twenty years at Bay Area schools and studios. April is glad to be serving as part of the administrative team as SADC. She looks forward to more dancing and creativity while always supporting the mission of the Center where she has been an active community member since 1997.
