Omulu Capoeira Group is a Capoeira Contemporânea Regional Group led by Capoeira master, Mestre Preguiça. He is one of the early pioneers to bring Capoeira to the United States and was a student of the creator of Capoeira Regional, Mestre Bimba. Our philosophy: Hard work, commitment, and discipline are crucial to success! Push beyond your perceived limitations and reap the benefits. Our Methodology: Capoeira regional – We focus on technique, strength and fitness training, self-defense, self-discipline, physical education, and biomechanics of the movements. We teach history, maculelê and music (instruments & songs) Tips for new students: Participants should wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that allows one to move freely and, ideally, stretch in. Students may purchase traditional Abadá (Portuguese pronunciation: [abaˈda]) martial arts pants. Lessons are practiced in bare feet, no shoes. Please bring a water bottle, as capoeira can be physically demanding.
