Accompanied by the sounds of ngoma drumming, Kongolese dance is a central part of the ancestral inheritance of descendants of the Kongo Kingdom of Central Africa. The style is distinguished by its grounded and syncopated movements, hip/torso/shoulder isolations, and polyrhythmic footwork. Kongolese dance is a healing art form celebrated for its fluid movements and both simmering and explosive energy. This introductory class is open to all levels. Dance with bare feet or with dance shoes.
