DESCRIPTION

Take flight through the dance and drum traditions of Senegal, West Africa. This class is open to all levels and is accompanied by live drumming. Beginning with a warm-up, and followed by a break-down of the movements, the 75 minute class will take students on a movement journey to Senegal.

Ousseynou Kouyate was born and raised in Senegal, West Africa, and comes from from a a long line of griots with roots in Mali and Guinea. He currently resides in the Bay Area and offers weekly classes on Friday evenings at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts.
