It’s playtime for grown-ups! In this dance theatre workshop, you will create new material, gain specific, repeatable tasks to use in your own process, learn tools for writing, moving and vocalization, do experiments you never thought to try and end up somewhere you didn’t expect to be. This two-hour workshop welcomes movers, writers, and artists of all kinds, regardless of experience level.

view mapThis location is currently undergoing construction and is not wheelchair accessible. The studio is located up a flight of stairs and down a long hallway. Parking at this venue is very limited, so those planning to drive should allow extra time. Upon arrival, participants should use the call box to ring the studio and be let into the building.
About Deborah Slater Deborah Slater has been performing, choreographing and directing in theater and dance for over 30 years. Awards include a CHIME Mentorship an Isadora Duncan Dance Award for HOTEL OF MEMORIES. She has worked with selected theater and dance companies including the Magic Theater, A Traveling Jewish Theater, Dell ‘Arte, Theater Works and San Diego Repertory Theater. Commissions include the Yerba Buena Gardens Art Festival, Djerassi Resident Artist Program, The Cocteau Centenary in Los Angeles, the Kings County Arts Commission in Seattle and the Exploratorium in San Francisco. In 1989, she founded ART OF THE MATTER, a non-profit dedicated to the idea that art and everyday life are not, in fact, separate events. She is the artistic director of Deborah Slater Dance Theater (DSDT), now in its 34th season.
