Dholrhythms Dance Company Dholrhythms Dance Company is a San Francisco Bay Area-based organization dedicated to celebrating and sharing the vibrant folk dances of Punjab, India through classes, workshops, performances, and cultural events. Since 2003, Dholrhythms has grown into a welcoming and dynamic platform, bringing together people of all backgrounds to experience joyful movement, connection, and community in a non-competitive and uplifting environment. At the heart of Dholrhythms is co-founder Vicki Virk, who was born and raised in Punjab and has been teaching and inspiring students for over 20 years. With her deep cultural roots and passion for making Bhangra accessible, Vicki has created an inclusive space where dance is more than movement—it’s a way to celebrate, express, and connect. Whether in a classroom, on stage, or at a festival, Dholrhythms fosters a high-energy and welcoming experience for all levels. Beyond teaching, Dholrhythms Dance Company is known for its electrifying performances, blending traditional and contemporary influences while honoring the ancestral roots of Punjabi folk dance. The diverse group of women in the company have helped fuel the growing demand for Bhangra in the Bay Area, making Dholrhythms one of the most recognized Bhangra groups in the region. Dholrhythms has performed at museums, performing arts centers, festivals, and landmark venues, including War Memorial Opera House, de Young Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, SF City Hall, Stern Grove Festival, The Fillmore, Oakland Museum of California, TEDxSF, and more.
